DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD FOR DIGITAL SUBSCRIBER LINE, TERMINATION DEVICE, DIGITAL SUBSCRIBER LINE ACCESS MULTIPLEXER, AND ATM SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desired communication quality for each session flow at a low mounting cost without causing a traffic delay and deterioration in the throughput.

SOLUTION: A termination device 2 establishes PPPoE links 6A, 6B respectively corresponding to a high priority transfer class and a high priority discard class in parallel with a BAS 5, classifies user data into either of the communication quality classes on the basis of the session flow of the use data, sets a CLP identifier of an ATM cell generated from each of user data to a value 0 or 1 denoting the class and transmits the resultant ATM cell. A DSLAM 3 sets the CLP identifier of the ATM cell to '1' when the ATM cell from the termination device 2 is not based on the QoS warrant contract. On the occurrence of congestion, an ATM switch 4 preferentially discards ATM cells whose CLP identifier is set to '1' among ATM cells received from the DSLAM 3.
