PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillating knife such as an ultrasonic knife for a living body or the like, by which the sharp cutting edge can be obtained and the problem of contamination or the like is reduced. SOLUTION: The oscillating knife such as the ultrasonic knife or the like includes a cutting member which is oscillated in a direction making an angle in the direction of progress of cutting while contacting a physical object such a cell 1 or the like and is used for cutting. A surface of the cutting member oriented to the side of the direction of progress of cutting employs one of a hydrophobic surface 3 and a hydrophilic surface 4, and a surface of the cutting member at the opposite side of the direction of progress of cutting employs the other hydrophobic surface 3 or the hydrophilic surface 4.
