PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method for rolled paper, performing partial cutting and full-cutting not to leave an uncut part in a printing apparatus. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus includes: a cutting means enabling partial cutting; a paper cutting means, the cutter position of which can be detected; and a paper feed roller or a paper transport means operated to rotate in the normal and reverse directions. According to this cutting method for the rolled paper, during the paper cutting operation, the operation of the cutter is once stopped when the cutter cuts part of the paper width to fix the paper, and still in the stop state of the cutter, the paper feed roller or the paper transport means is operated to rotate in the reverse direction, that is, in the return direction of the paper to generate the tension for pulling back the paper, thereby separating the uncut part to perform full cutting, and then the return operation of the cutter is performed.
