PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod comprising a plurality of rod bodies joined together, thus affording good flexibility. SOLUTION: The fishing rod comprises a main rod 1 having an engagement female part 1a in a given range in the axial direction of the end of an ear tip side and a main upper rod 2 having an engagement male part 2 engageable on the female part 1a in a given range in the axial direction of the end of a rod foot side. The main rod 1 has a main layer 10 formed of a prepreg with axially oriented reinforcing fibers and an auxiliary layer 11 formed of prepregs with circumferentially oriented reinforcing fibers laminated on on the outer circumference of the main layer 10 in a given range in the axial direction of the end of the ear tip side where the engagement female part 1a is formed; wherein the main layer 10 is thinner than the other portions thereof in the above range.
