Contact lens manufacturing method, wherein material (4) is eroded from the surface (3) of a pre-fabricated unfinished contact lens (2) using UV laser radiation (21). During processing, a screen (31, 32) is positioned in a working position (34) in the laser beam path near to or in front of the contact lens surface that is to be worked on. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the manufacturing method.
