PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strut type shock absorber having such structure that does not cause collision sound even if an outer tube collides against a damper cylinder. SOLUTION: This strut type shock absorber is composed of the damper cylinder 5 which is composed of the outer tube 3 connected with an axle side and a damper D of falling-down type inserted into the outer tube 3 and in which the damper D is connected with a vehicle body side and is slidably inserted into the outer tube 3 with an arbitrary slide clearance and a piston rod 6 inserted into the damper cylinder 5 so as to come in and out freely. A silencing member for preventing collision sound caused when both of the outer tube 3 and the damper cylinder 5 collide is arranged between them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
