The rotating mechanical seal assembly (1) especially for a submersible motor-driven pump has interacting slide rings, and a circulating system for cooling and/or lubricating of the slide rings. The circulating system has a passage (4) leading into and a passage (5) leading out of a sealed chamber in the housing for the feed and drain of the flow medium, and a feed device in the chamber rotating commonly with the rotating slide ring to create a forced circulation of the medium. At least one outside circumferential section of each slide ring lies in the chamber. An independent claim is included for a submersible motor-driven pump incorporating the aforesaid mechanical seal assembly for sealing the drive shaft between the motor chamber (A) and pump chamber (B) of the pump.
