Equipment for the production of carbonated water and a process for the production thereof, which enable easy and simple production of high-concentration carbonated water at a low cost. Equipment for the production of carbonated water provided with a static mixer having 20 to 100 elements and a process for the production thereof by using such a static mixer make it possible to produce high-concentration carbonated water easily, simply, and at a low cost, and the equipment and the process are applicable particularly effectively to so-called one-pass processes. Additionally, high-concentration carbonated water can be more efficiently produced under the conditions satisfying the relationship: Re x N = 100000 to 2000000 wherein N is the number of elements of the static mixer and Re is the Reynolds number as observed when a water/carbon dioxide mixture flows in the static mixer.
