METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ALLOWING HARDWARE COMPONENT TO ACCESS DATA VALUE SET, AND SYNCHRONIZATION CIRCUIT FOR ENABLING HARDWARE-BASED SYNCHRONIZATION IN SET-TOP-BOX

PURPOSE: A method and system for allowing hardware components to access a data value set, and a synchronization circuit are provided to enable hardware-based synchronization in a set-top box such that a data value is transmitted between a clock register set operating at the first frequency and a DCR(Device Control Registry) register operating at the second frequency. CONSTITUTION: A control signal is activated such that an initial data value is recorded in a DCR register set(14) when a set-top-box(10) is initialized. Then, the control signal is stretched and synchronized with a clock signal having the second frequency by a synchronization circuit(18). Subsequently, the initial data value is transmitted from the DCR register to a clock register. With the lapse of time, the initial data value is updated in a set clock register by a real-time clock circuit in the set-top-box. When the initial data value is updated, the current data value set is displayed on a display(32) and transmitted to the DCR register set. The synchronization circuit synchronizes the control signal with a clock signal having the first frequency such that the current data value set is transmitted to the DCR register set. A CPU(Central Processing Unit) accesses the DCR register set to read the current data value set.
