PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically locking a mobile communication terminal, and a method thereof are provided to automatically lock a mobile communication terminal if no key input event is generated, thereby preventing personal information from being lost. CONSTITUTION: A user of a mobile communication terminal sets up a time gap through a key input unit(301). A control unit judges whether key input in accordance with a key event exists(302). If so, a key check value is set up as a true value(303). The control unit judges whether the time gap ends(304). If the set time gap expires, it is judged whether the key check value is a false value(305). If so, the control unit locks the corresponding mobile communication terminal(306).
