PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can recycle by-products such as screen cake formed in a waste paper recovery step, and to provide a method for dehydrating sludge, which is excellent in performance of flocculating and dehydrating various types of sludge, especially, a sludge mixture containing excess sludge in a high ratio. SOLUTION: The method for dehydrating sludge comprises adding a combination of a fibrous component obtained in a used paper recovery step with an organic polymer flocculating agent to sludge and dehydrating the mixture.
