PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce running torque applying to a worm and the amount of backlash of the meshing part. SOLUTION: An electric power steering device is equipped with a housing 7 fixing an electric motor 1, the worm 3 whose one end part is rotatably supported in the housing 7 through a rolling bearing 6, and interlockingly connected to the output shaft 1a of the electric motor 1, a worm wheel 4 meshing with the worm 3, and a coil spring 14 which is interposed between the end surface of the output shaft 1a and the end part of the worm 3, and energizes the worm 3 to the anti-electric motor side. The electric motor 1 is fixed to the housing 7 so that the coil spring 14 pushes the worm 3 toward the worm wheel 4. The energizing means pushes a drive gear toward a driven gear by fixing the electric motor to the housing to be able to reduce the amount of backlash of the engagement portion of the drive gear and the driven gear. The rotating torque of the drive gear can be reduced, and the number of the parts can also reduced to reduce the cost of the electric power steering device, since an adjustment means for adjusting the distance between the rotation center of the drive gear and driven gear is not required.
