PURPOSE: A handoff processing method in a mobile communication system is provided to prevent a data loss due to the difference between a point for informing that a new base station is ready for transmitting forward packet data to a terminal and a point for receiving a message informing that an old base station stops transmission of the forward packet data to the terminal. CONSTITUTION: When a handoff of a terminal occurs, a new base station transmits a message informing that it is ready for transmitting forward packet data to the terminal, to a BSC(Base Station Controller)(S20). The BSC transmits data to both the new base station and an old base station until it receives a message informing that a service is stopped from the old base station in service(S21,S22). If the BSC receives the message from the old base station and determines to transmit data to the new base station(S23), it checks whether there is data that has not been transmitted to the new base station and transmits the non-transmitted data to the new base station(S24).
