<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate that a developing cartridge is incorrectly taken out from an apparatus main body. <P>SOLUTION: A developing unit is positioned at a read/write position so that the developing side connector of a developing device mounted in a step #30 is positioned at an opposed position to a main body side connector (#32). Then, the specified area of a cartridge memory is read (#34). When an incorrect takeout flag is not set (NO in #36), specified post-replacement processing such as reading information on service life stored in the cartridge memory and writing it in a main body memory is performed (#38), and then the incorrect takeout flag is set in the specified area of the cartridge memory (#40) so as to finish a cartridge replacing mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
