ACTIVE COMPOUNDS WITH MELANIN BIOSYNTHESIS INHIBITING ACTIVITY ISOLATED FROM IDESIA POLCARPA, AND SKIN-WHITENING AGENTS CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided are active compounds with melanin biosynthesis inhibiting activity isolated from Idesia polcarpa, and skin-whitening agents containing the same. CONSTITUTION: The skin-whitening agent is characterized by containing as an active ingredient, the extract of Idesia polcarpa. The extract of Idesia polcarpa contains a compound of the formula(1). The extract of Idesia polcarpa is obtained by the steps of: (1) extracting Idesia polcarpa with lower alcohol; (2) shaking-extracting the extract obtained in the step(1) with ethylacetate to recover an ethylacetate soluble part; (3) performing gel permeation chromatography with the ethylacetate soluble part to give active fractions; and (4) freeze-drying the active fractions.
