PURPOSE: An electro-optical device, a projection typed display device, and a mounting case are provided to display high-quality images by suppressing the generation of difference in the characteristics of plural electro-optical devices. CONSTITUTION: An electro-optical device is embedded in a mounting case(601). Projection light is incident to an image display area of the electro-optical device from a light source. The mounting case includes a plate(610) placed to face one side of the electro-optical device and a cover(620) for covering the electro-optical device. At least a portion of the peripheral area of the image display is retained in one side of the plate and the cover.
