摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance cooling efficiency by optimizing heat radiation effect. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with a light source 9, the liquid crystal display elements 24, 27 and 30 to be spatial optical modulation elements, an illumination optical system illuminating the liquid crystal display elements 24, 27 and 30 with light emitted from the light source 9 and an imaging optical system imaging the images of the liquid crystal display elements. The liquid crystal display elements 23, 27 and 30 each has a light shielding frame 5 and the light shielding frame 5 is formed by using a material mixed with carbon fiber. That is, the outer frame is formed by using the carbon fiber whose thermal conductivity is thought to be the best and thermal conductivity and mass production stability are made compatible with each other at a high level by mixing the carbon fiber with a polymer material in order to satisfy necessary conditions for forming the outer frame when the outer frame is formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
