PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing an optically active amino alcohol compound from an olefin compound in high optical purity and high yield in the presence of osmium tetroxide(OsO4) fixed on a polymer adsorbent, as a catalyst, by an asymmetric aminohydroxylation. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the steps of: (1) dissolving a nitrogen source in a solvent and stirring and adding a basic water solution; (2) adding the osmium tetroxide fixed on a polymer adsorbent to the solution of the step (1), wherein the polymer is a copolymer containing styrene, substituted styrene, acrylate, or methacrylate monomers and having a vinyl group residue; (3) adding a chiral ligand to the solution of the step (2) and stirring; (4) adding an olefin to the solution of the step (3) and stirring.
