PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical spot marker device that is easy to install and establishes reliable communication.

SOLUTION: The spot marker 13, which comprises a transmission circuit 20 for generating driving signals and a first and a second infrared LED 21 and 22 driven for lighting by the driving signals to transmit a first and a second infrared signal, is buried in a road 12. The spot marker 13 transmits the first and second infrared signals to a vehicle 11 passing the installation position of the spot marker 13 to provide the vehicle 11 with road information about a position spaced a given distance from the installation position.
