PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform selective diversity reception corresponding to the situation of a propagation path while taking power consumption into account. SOLUTION: The OFDM receiver is equipped with a sub carrier selective composing mode for performing selective composition for each sub carrier and an antenna selecting mode for selecting a receiver antenna and is operated in a suitable operating mode corresponding to the environment of communications to perform the sub carrier selective composition for obtaining excellent receiving performance under the adverse communication environment but in the comparatively excellent communication environment, RF and IF circuits, an A/D converter and a DDT connected to antenna elements are prevented from being uselessly operated.
