<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prevent, at a low cost, the main body of an image forming apparatus from falling when it is placed on an option paper feed unit. <P>SOLUTION: Defined in an option unit housing 41 are: a reference face 41a on which an option unit mechanism is positioned; a fixing face 41d which is extended in parallel with the reference face and is situated above and behind the reference face, and on which a paper feed unit mechanism 42 is fixed; and sides 41b and 41c connecting the fixing face and the reference face. On the outside of the reference face, support legs 31a to 31d which support the option paper feed unit are formed projectingly from the outside of the reference face.
