PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conjugated diene polymer hydrogenation, high in repeatability, capable of quantitative hydrogenation, and industrially profitable, by bringing a conjugated diene polymer into contact with hydrogen in an inactive organic solvent for the hydrogenation of the conjugated diene double bond. SOLUTION: In this method for conjugated diene polymer hydrogenation, a quencher is added to a conjugated diene polymer or the like prepared by using an organic alkali metal compound as the initiator, and the hydrogenation of the conjugated diene double bond is accomplished in the presence of (a) a component which is a metallocene catalyst and (b) at least one component selected from the group consisting of a conjugated diene monomer, an organic phosphorus compound, and a acetylene monomer.
