PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that color slippage of a color image takes place, by using a buffer with a small capacity in a conventional color image input device. SOLUTION: A control method of a color image input device includes: selecting a reference color; dividing a fixed interval between a plurality of line imaging elements for each of remaining colors with respect to the reference color by an image data period by one line to obtain an integral part and a fraction part; storing image data generated with a delay by only an equivalent time interval to correct the color slippage equivalent to the fraction part to a line buffer; composing the image data with each other in all the colors by reading the image data at the same time; and correcting the color slippage corresponding to the integral part by properly bringing, the propriety of write of the composed image data after the correction of the fraction part to an image data buffer in units of lines by each color, into a switching enabled state and relatively deviating the write timing by the color slippage equivalent to the integral part.
