<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a delivery system for delivering a self-expanding stent into a human lumen. <P>SOLUTION: The delivery system includes a catheter body 3 having a proximal end and distal ends 5 and 4 and matched to convey the stent 2 to a predetermined position in the human lumen for developing, and the stent 2 carried by the catheter body 3 near the distal end 4. This system is disposed to deliver the stent 2 with a reduced radius along the axial entire length (L<SB>E</SB>) of the stent 2. This delivery system includes an extendible outer sheath 6 surrounding the stent 2 and housing the stent 2 and a proximal retraction handle 7 connected to the proximal end 5 of the catheter body 3. The sheath 6 has an outer tube 8 having a tail end 9 surrounding the stent 2 along its entire length (L<SB>E</SB>) and having a proximal end 10 connected to the retraction handle 7, and another inner tube 11 disposed concentrically within the outer tube 8 and having a distal end part 12 surrounding the stent 2 along the part (L<SB>P</SB>) of the entire length (L<SB>E</SB>) of the stent 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
