PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient damping effect even in a narrow space. SOLUTION: This damper 10, which is compactly constituted so as to be housed in an upper space 26 formed among a pair of columns 18 and 20, a ceiling 30, and an upper beam 16, is composed of a first link member 32, a second link member 34, and a hydraulic damper 36 as a buffer member. The link member 34 is supported so as to be turned around a shaft 46, and a distance L<SB>D</SB>from the shaft 46 to a coupling shaft 41 is set shorter than a distance L<SB>C</SB>from the shaft 46 to a coupling shaft 48 (L<SB>C</SB>>L<SB>D</SB>). Thus, when S<SB>A</SB>represents displacement of the other end 32b of the link member 32, displacement S<SB>B</SB>of a lower end 34b of the link member 34 is given by the expression, S<SB>A</SB>×L<SB>C</SB>/L<SB>D</SB>, and the input displacement S<SB>A</SB>is increased by L<SB>C</SB>/L<SB>D</SB>times. Consequently, the damping effect can be enhanced by sufficiently increasing the tilting of the columns 18 and 20 even in the narrow space such as the upper space 26 by means of a booster mechanism 38.
