PURPOSE: A radio frequency thermal balloon catheter is provided to achieve uniform heating of contact tissues, thereby enabling safe and appropriate heat treatment on the affected portion. CONSTITUTION: The radio frequency thermal balloon catheter comprises a catheter(4) having an outer shaft(2) and an inner shaft(3); a balloon mounted between respective tip ends of the inner and outer shafts, the balloon being expanded to come into contact with the affected portion; a radio frequency electrode(8) used to supply radio frequency energy along with another electrode; a lead line(10) electrically connected to the electrode; a temperature sensor to detect the temperature of liquid received in the balloon; and an equalizing unit to equalize the temperature of the liquid.
