<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trackball device to be arranged as an input operation part of various kinds of electronic equipment, which can perform a smooth rotating operation in an operable direction while reducing the slippage of a ball at the time of rotation regulation of the ball. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises a rotation regulation structure so as to hold the ball 31 from both sides. The regulation structure comprises a ring-like movable part e8 arranged rotatably on the outside of the ball 31, and a pair of moving members 34 provided opposite to each other in point-symmetric positions against the center of the ball 31 and engagingly with the movable part 38, the moving members approaching in the central direction of the ball 31 and making contact with the surface of the ball 31 when the movable part 38 is rotated in a predetermined direction, and moving to separate from the ball 31 when the movable part 38 is rotated in the opposite direction.
