The device has a multi-track coding ring (1) with a low resolution coding track (4) disposed on a radial surface (3c) and a high resolution coding track (5) disposed on an exterior surface (3b) of a support (3). The track (4) presents the radial active surface disposed axially with respect to a hall effect sensor and the track (5) presents an active surface disposed radially with respect to another hall effect sensor. An independent claim is also included for a ball bearing.
