PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting control device of an internal combustion engine which, when input abnormality of a cylinder discrimination signal occurs, can suitably prevent trouble form occurring in response to incorrect judgment of cylinder discrimination caused by the input abnormality. SOLUTION: A crank angle sensor 10 outputs a chipped-tooth signal for discriminating a top dead center position of a cylinder when an engine output shaft lies at a specific rotation angle. A cam angle sensor 20 outputs a cylinder discrimination signal for performing cylinder discrimination in every one period of an engine cycle. A micro computer 2 carries out the cylinder discrimination based on presence or absence of input of the chipped-tooth signal and on presence or absence of input of the cylinder discrimination signal corresponding to the chipped-tooth signal input. The computer starts ignition control based on a result of the cylinder discrimination on a condition that cylinder discrimination is carried out and signal input from the cam angle sensor 20 is checked.
