PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a basic pattern of a garment, capable of designing the basic pattern without requiring a baste or correcting work only by performing the measurements of prescribed positions of a body and capable of designing the basic pattern on a computer, a design-assisting software and a recording medium on which the program of the software is recorded. SOLUTION: This design of the basic pattern of the garment is provided by specifying measuring positions on a body 3 in step 100, performing an actual measuring work in accordance with the measuring positions in step 150, and drawing the basic pattern on a paper surface based on the measured dimensions in step 200. These works are performed independently on an upper half body side of a front body 3a and its lower half body side, and an upper half body side of the rear body 3b and its lower half body side.
