PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trick play processor capable of attaining smooth image display with high image quality even at reverse reproduction or reverse slow reproduction. SOLUTION: The trick play processor comprises: a memory for storing reproduction image data; a write control section for writing the reproduction image data to the memory; a read control section for reading and outputting the reproduction image data in a form of an inverse time series; a line filter for receiving the reproduction image data and outputting the reproduction image data without any modification as inverse reproduction image data on the basis of a field for designating a display period or using the reproduction image data to generate different field data and outputting the data as inverse reproduction image data; a selector for selecting the reproduction or the inverse reproduction and outputting either of the received reproduction image data and the inverse reproduction image data; and a selector control section for controlling the selector.
