PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal separator in which the efficiency of cleaning the inside of a casing can be improved by reducing the load to be imposed on a motor. SOLUTION: The centrifugal separator has the casing the inside of which is cleaned by supplying a cleaning liquid and a basket which has a rotary shaft connected to the motor and fixed horizontally and which is arranged in the casing. A control part controls so that the motor is rotated at a predetermined first rotational speed and the cleaning liquid is supplied into the casing until the water level is abutted on the circumferential surface of the bottom of the basket, and after a prescribed time passes, the motor is rotated at a second rotational speed lower than the first rotational speed and the cleaning liquid is supplied into the casing until the water level is equal to or higher than the inner peripheral surface of a filter arranged on the bottom side of the basket.
