PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly improve the waterproof performance of joints when installing a window frame or the like to an opening of a building, and reduce cost and labor in work by largely reducing the volume of a caulking material used there. SOLUTION: A backup member 3 made of an elastic material is compressed and filled into a clearance between the cut end of the opening of an external board 1 and the external face 2a of an opening frame system 2, with one of longitudinal faces of the backup member 3 being nearly on a level with the back face of the external board 1. The caulking material 5 is filled over the backup member 3 in the clearance. Preferably, the external board has a structure composed of three layers of a wood material at the back, an inorganic material at the face and a waterproof material between them, and the depth of the backup member is set thicker than the total thickness of the wood material and waterproof material layers of the external board.
