PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy in which magnesium silicide formed by the solid phase reaction between magnesium as the main component and silicon powder as addition powder is fine, and is uniformly dispersed into a magnesium alloy matrix. SOLUTION: As starting raw materials, powder containing magnesium and aluminum, and silicon powder 2 are prepared. By the solid phase reaction between the magnesium and silicon, magnesium silicide particles 5 are formed in a magnesium alloy matrix 4. By the presence of the aluminum component, the silicon particles 2 are dispersed into many fine silicon particles on the solid phase reaction, and the dispersed fine silicon particles are brought into solid phase reaction with the magnesium to form the fine magnesium silicide particles 5.
