<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize fixing temperature for paper so as to have an appropriate value by preventing overheat in fixing. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with image forming means (102 to 106) forming a visible image on the paper, a fixing means (107) heating the paper, a means (88) for detecting the fixing temperature, and a feed means (86) supplying power to the fixing means so that the detected temperature may coincide with target temperature. The apparatus is equipped with a target value control means (131) for updating (RDT) the target temperature of the feed means (86) by reading in the detected temperature (T) when switching a mode from an energy saving mode (dormant mode or low power mode) in which supplying the power to the fixing means is stopped to a fixing feed mode (standby mode), deciding the target temperature (RTemp=RTra1) based on the detected temperature and giving it to the feed means (IDT), and deciding the next target temperature (RTemp=RTra2) after specified time (RTime1) elapses thereafter. The target temperature is corrected, paper passing speed is set and/or a paper passing interval is set according to attribute information including the kind, the thickness and the size of the paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
