<p>The device has a phase detector that compares phases of a voltage-controlled oscillator output signal and the input signal or data and outputs an error signal corresponding to the difference. A filter that converts the error signal into an oscillator control signal so that it can follow dynamic fluctuations and long-term variations of the input signal phase has a first branch for dynamic fluctuations and a parallel branch for long-term variations. The device has a phase detector (1), a control loop filter (2) and a voltage-controlled oscillator (3). The phase detector compares the phases of the oscillator output signal (T) with the input signal or data phase and outputs an error signal corresponding to their difference. The filter converts the error signal into a control signal for the oscillator so that it can follow dynamic fluctuations and long-term variations of the input signal phase and has two parallel branches (21; 22-24), the first dimensioned for the dynamic fluctuations and the second for the long-term variations. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a transmission unit, especially a signal regulator at a transition between electrical and optical signals (b) a detection circuit for detecting the locked state of a phase locked loop (c) and a digital to analog converter for use in a phase locked loop.</p> |
