<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a brush electrifying device and an image forming apparatus by which a photoreceptor can be electrified uniformly at a specified surface potential to obtain a high-quality image. <P>SOLUTION: The brush electrifying device 32, which electrifies a photoreceptor drum made in contact with the drum, consists of a roller obtained by spirally winding an electrifying brush 302 provided with many conductive fibers in a brush-shape on the outer peripheral surface of a conductive support 301. The size D of the conductive fibers is set to 1.5-4 deniers, the length L to ≥2m, and flocking density to ≥150,000 filament/inch<SP>2</SP>.
