PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a lock device, to reduce the cost, and to improve the operability. SOLUTION: An armrest 4 is mounted on a side of a backrest seat 3 of a seat 1 in such a way that the armrest can be turned with a lateral shaft 7. The lock device L is mounted between the shaft 7 and the armrest frame 10 of the armrest 4. In the use range A for using the armrest 4, the lock device L locks the downward turn of the armrest 4, permitting only the upward turn so that the height of the armrest can be adjusted. In a prescribed storage range B positioned at the upper limit position of the use range A or higher, the armrest 4 is unlocked so that both upward and downward turn is possible. When the armrest is turned downward from the storage range B to the lowest position in the use range A, the lock device L returns the armrest to the position where the downward turn can be locked.
