The tow bar (1) has a front part (2), an adjustment rod (3) and a rear part (4) parallel to the front part. The front and rear parts are hingedly connected to the adjustment rod. The rear part is also fixedly connected to a trailer. The distance between the front and rear parts can thus be varied and the arrangement can be fixed in any adjusted position. A clamp (6) is arranged on the adjustment rod so as to be slidable along the length of the rod and fixedly clamped to the rod. Two levers (7,9) are hingedly fixed to the clamp. These levers each have their other end hingedly fixed to a respective tongue (8,10) connected respectively to the tow bar front part and rear part. The distance between the levers and the adjustment rod in the region of the clamp is smaller that in the region of the tongues.
