To weld plastics sheets (9,11), which can be heat shaped such as of polypropylene or polyethylene, hot air is blown at a set temp. at the welding contact points (3,4) of the sheets brought together, while a lateral pressure is applied to them to hold them together. Also claimed is an appts. with two dies (7,8) to apply heat shaping to the plastics sheets (9,11). The dies face each other symmetrically on a horizontal plane. The interior of the dies can be evacuated, after the sheets (9,10) have been positioned between them. Tubes (12,13) blow hot air, followed by cold air if required, at the welding contact points (3,4), for a welded bond between the sheets at the contact points between the dies. |
