APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a vehicle navigation system are provided to reduce a communication charge by commonly using a communication module of a PDA(Personal digital Assistant). CONSTITUTION: A vehicle navigation system is provided on a vehicle(42). The vehicle navigation system is provided with a telematics function and receives GPS(Global Positioning System) signals from a GPS satellite(39). The GPS signals contain information provided from a vehicle information center(33). The vehicle information center receives traffic information from contents providers(30). The traffic information is provided from the vehicle information center to the vehicle navigation system through a base station(36), a mobile terminal, and the GPS satellite. The mobile terminal is a PDA manufactured by a terminal provider(45).
