METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COLLECTING BLOOD FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for collecting a blood sample from a patient by a reliable painless method for diagnostic purposes.

SOLUTION: The method includes: a step (a) of forming a non-sealed opening on the surface of the skin to take out the blood sample: and a step (b) of taking the blood sample out of the non-sealed opening on the skin under the support of vacuum and skin stretching. The apparatus includes:(a) a device for forming the non-sealed opening on the surface of the skin to take out the sample, preferably an incision assembly; and (b) a vacuum pump. Preferably, the apparatus includes a housing as well. An air pressure incision assembly which uses a differential gas pressure for extruding a lancet into skin tissue is also provided. An article is also provided for collecting blood to detect analyte in the blood. A meter to measure signals generated by a detecting element of the article can be combined for use.
