<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic fluid having excellent dispersing stability and low viscosity without using an unsaturated fatty acid, etc., as a surfactant for adsorbing to surfaces of magnetic fine particles, or to particularly provide the magnetic fluid of a synthetic oil base. <P>SOLUTION: This magnetic fluid is obtained by dispersing the magnetic fine particles obtained by sequentially adsorbing a branched saturated fatty acid to the surface and then a linear saturated aliphatic surfactant, in low vapor pressure base oil such as synthetic oil, etc. and preferably using an isostearic acid (CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>CCH<SB>2</SB>CH(CH<SB>3</SB>)CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>CH(COOH)CH(CH<SB>3</SB>)CH<SB>2</SB>C(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>as the linear saturated aliphatic surfactant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
