PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, for notifying update of an electronic document, which can assign only a document in which a user has interest as a notification object, and can exclude an update notice about unnecessary document to acquire necessary information with minimum exertion. SOLUTION: The device has a notification object assignment means 102 which assigns a set of one or more electronic documents which exist hierarchically concerning an electronic document indicated by one address, as an object of update detection; an electronic document acquisition means 103 which acquires the electronic document assigned as a notification object by the notification object designation means; an update detection means 104 which detects the update of the electronic document acquired by the electronic document acquisition means; and a notification means 105 which notifies the user 101 of contents detected by the update detection means.
