PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for supporting plural codecs are provided to share common operation blocks of various video codecs. CONSTITUTION: A header analyzing unit(200) analyzes a header of a compressed and transmitted bit stream, judges a kind of a codec, and generates a switch connection command in response to the judged kind of the codec. A switch unit(210) connects a corresponding operation block in response to the switch connection command transmitted from the header analyzing unit(200). The corresponding operation block of a decoding unit(220) decodes the bit stream. |
