PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle which is prevented from being deteriorated in air-conditioning performance in response to the interruption of the operation of air conditioner. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is used for the vehicle equipped with a motor-driven power steering device that assists the steering operation of an occupant via a driving force from a motor. A time to temporarily stop the operation of the air conditioner from the start of the operation of power steering device (air conditioner cut-off time) is determined in response to a load on the power steering device (steering angle time variation dθ/dt).
