PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf receiving device for installing a shelf board to a wall, which can firmly fix a shelf board by a simple operation with efficient working for adjustment of the shelf board thickness, and also speeds up installation working. SOLUTION: The shelf comprises a shelf board installation member 1 capable of being installed to a wall W with screws 2 or the like and having an engagement part 1a provided sideways and curved upward, a shelf board installation member 4 on which a side edge member 3a of a shelf board 3 can be installed with an upper member 4A and a lower member 4B in a desired shop and which has an engaging member 4a provided sideways and curving upward. A shelf thickness adjusting vertical board 4d of the upper member 4A is fixed to an installation base board 4f of the lower member 4B with screws 4g so that a side edge member 3a of the shelf board 3 can be freely sandwiched between a shelf board holding lateral lower board 4e of the lower board member 4B and a shelf board holding lateral lower board member of the upper member 4A. The shelf board 3 is turned and operated and the engagement part 4a of the shelf board installation member 4 is inserted into the engaged part 1a of the shelf board installation member 4, and then they can be easily engaged without permitting coming-off.
