PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing load by using intermediate data in image display while responding to the depletion of a memory for storing the intermediate data. SOLUTION: This image display device comprises an intermediate data generation part 38 for generating intermediate data from designated image data; an intermediate data buffer 3A for storing the intermediate data generated by the generation part 38; and a drawing processing part 37 for expanding the intermediate data stored in the buffer 3A for bit map data for display. The buffer 3A determines whether a storage memory area is insufficient or not when storing the intermediate data, and retains reading position information showing which part of the image data is interpreted and transformed to the intermediate data when the storage memory area is insufficient.
