PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data-holding device and a data-holding method which store data even when power is interrupted, accurately restore the stored data, and easily controls timing with less increase in the circuit area. SOLUTION: In a data restoration operation, power of the data-holding device 1 is turned on to provide a read signal to other end 5b of a ferroelectric capacitor 5. Thus, electric charges corresponding to a polarization state stored in the ferroelectric capacitor 5 are discharged to a ferroelectric connection node 17. In this case, transfer gates 11, 15 are both turned off. Thus, the electric charges discharged to the ferroelectric connection node 17 are not leaked via the transfer gates 11, 15.
