PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust silencer usable for either on-the-public-way traveling or race-purpose traveling at any time, and to further enhance its performance in accordance with these purpose in the exhaust silencer of an internal combustion engine wherein the interior of its main body is partitioned into a plurality of expansion chambers by a plurality of partition walls and a spark arrestor equipped with a tail pipe is removably installed at the back portion of the main body. SOLUTION: The exhaust silencer has a structure in which exhaust gas flow passes through at least three times per one partition wall by the tail pipe and communication pipes when the spark arrester is installed and exhaust gas flow bypasses one chamber of the multiple expansion chambers via the communication pipe to be discharged into the outside when the arrester is removed.
